Participating Discount Stores & Supermarkets that will identify
FSA-eligible items at checkout as of 1/1/2008

List
Starting on
January 1, 2008, new IRS rules allow you to use your Prepaid
Benefits Card in participating discount stores and supermarkets
that can identify FSA-eligible items at checkout. You will be
able to purchase the FSA-eligible items on your Card, and will
be asked for a different form of payment for non-eligible items.
In most cases, NO receipts will be needed to verify the
eligibility of FSA-eligible purchases at participating stores!
Important point
to remember:
If you use your Card on or after January 1, 2008 in a discount
store or supermarket that is not participating – even if you
were able to purchase FSA-eligible items in the store prior to
January 1, 2008 – your Card will decline. These IRS rules
currently apply only to discount stores and supermarkets, so you
can continue to use your Card at pharmacies and other health
care providers.
Below is the
current list of discount stores and supermarkets that have
publicly announced they are implementing the Industry Standard
version of identifying FSA-eligible items at checkout. We will
keep you updated with additional names (as we receive them).
In addition
to the following list Walgreens and Drugstore.COM use a similar
system to IIAS and it works the same way.
